Jacobs and Co is a register waste carrier. It is essential that the individual or business that requires a waste disposal service use a registered carrier. Should the individual use a non-registered carrier, this individual may be liable in the event of fly-tipping.
Jacobs and Co will carry and dispose the following items: Furniture, general household goods, domestic waste. We are unable to dispose of building rubble or garden waste or waste that is describes as trade waste.
In the event that the furniture is still serviceable we will first try to give it to a charity. Some charities will only accept donations that comply with strict fire regulation.
Depending on the area, some waste stations may charge additional fees for disposing fridges, freezers and mattresses.

All commercial vehicles calling at recycling centres are subject to waste charges per weight. Please see the links below for information and rates for the Hounslow and Richmond recycling centres. Fridges are tricky items to get rid of and always confirm with the recycling centre on what their policy is regarding fridges. At present Richmond Recycling centre will not accept any fridges on a commercial vehicle (van). The client has two options:
- Call Richmond council to collect the fridge
- Put the fridge in a private car and take it to the recycling centre yourself.(No charges involved)
Hounslow Recycling centre will accept a fridge from both the private individual and a commercial van. However there is a ÂŁ60.00 charge per fridge if it is in a commercial vehicle (van). This charge does not apply to a private car and the fridge can be disposed of free of charge.
We have found that these arrangements can change from time to time and from individual to individual that you deal with at these centres- Confirm your situation before you go!!

Do you offer assembly services?
Yes, we offer both disassembly and reassembly of furniture. Ranging from:
- Beds ( Including Ottoman beds)
- Desks
- Tables
- Bookshelves
- Wardrobes
- Certain types of sofas
- Garden furniture and play frames
In addition we do all types of flat pack assembly.Â
Do you move pianos, and safes?
We have the ability and equipment to move both upright and Grand pianos. There is a range of factors to consider before moving a piano or any other heavy items, therefore a site visit will always be required prior to the removal.
Other hydraulic heavy equipment allows us to move exceptional heavy item such as safes, Granite objects, oak dressers etc.
Do you move the content of the fridge or freezer?
As a rule we don’t pack or move the content of the fridge or freezer as it is not covered by our insurance.
In special cases we will carry the content if advance notice has been given allowing us to bring freezer boxes and bags.Â
Should the client wish for us to carry the content of the fridge or freezer , the content should be packed in appropriate leak free containers and special care should be taken to avoid leakage which can stain or damage other items of furniture.
Food cannot be stored in any storage.
Are you fully insured?
Yes, we are a removalist specialist with all the appropriate insurance including:
- Vehicle insurance for hire and reward
- Employers and Public liability insurance
- Goods in transit insurance
Do you unplumb washing machines,dishwashers, fridges and freezers?
No, as a rule we do not unplumb or replumb white goods as it is not covered by insurance.
All white goods needs to be completely unplumbed and free from any electrical connection before removal.
This goes for any appliance that is connected directly to the mains without a plug.
Do you dispose of unwated furniture?
Yes we do. We are licensed carrier for household furniture and goods. Where possible we will always try to send the furniture to charity first before disposing of it.We cannot remove garden or building rubble.
Pleas note that certain items like fridges, freezers and mattresses may carry additional Waste station charges.These are fees charges by local councils. Charges per item may be levied depending on the council.
We will always go to the nearest waste station.
